단소아, 김혜윤 작가에 대하여

저의 배우자는 짜맞춤 가구를 만듭니다. 저는 자연스럽게 가구를 만들고 남은 자투리 조각으로 생활에 필요한 소도구를 직접 깍아 만들게 되었습니다. 한국에서는 필요한 물건을 구하기가 너무나도 쉽지만, 그 만큼 물건을 쉽게 버리게 됩니다. 저는 이러한 소비 방식에 의문을 가지며, 오래도록 곁에 두고 싶은 물건을 만들기로 했습니다.

좋은 재료와 시간, 정성을 들여 만든 수공예품은 단순한 물건이 아니라, 의미를 지니고 평생 소중히 간직할 가치가 있는 존재입니다. 저는 사용자의 곁에서 오래도록 사랑받고, 소중히 여겨질 수 있는 라이프 메이트같은 물건을 만들고 싶습니다.

In Korea, it is easy and convenient to buy anything we need. But this same convenience often leads to a culture of disposability. Questioning this way of living, I chose to create objects that are meant to stay—not to be thrown away.

A handcrafted piece, made with fine materials, time, and care, is not just an object; it carries meaning and becomes something to cherish for a lifetime. I hope to share such pieces with you—treasured objects to be held onto, loved, and passed down.

무엇이 중요한지 깊이 이해하고 행하는 삶을 추구합니다. 꼭 필요한 곳에 딱 필요한 만큼, 적절한 사람의 손길이 더해진 자연 소재와 바르게 정돈된 물건들, 단순하고 소박하며 아름다운 장면입니다. 이러한 삶을 꿈꾸며 '단순하게, 소박하게, 아름답게'의 첫 글자를 따서 '단소아' 라는 이름을 짓게 되었습니다.

I envision a way of life that comes from deeply understanding what is truly important and putting it into practice. Natural materials, touched just as much as needed in just the right places by human hands, and well-arranged objects—simple, humble, and beautiful scenes.

Dreaming of this way of life, I chose the name ‘DANSOA,’ inspired by the first letters of ‘Simply, Humbly, Beautifully’ in Korean.
